What it means in the system.
Entity-level context is everything a page inherits from where it lives, rather than what it says. A FlashSystem-named subdomain on an AS400-focused domain, surrounded by a growing, interconnected IBM ecosystem, carries entity-level context before a single word of page content is written. Traditional page-level analysis asks what a document did right. Entity-level context asks what the document was sitting inside of, and whether that surrounding structure was doing more of the work than the page itself.
Where it shows up.
A thin glossary page, two short blurbs and a CTA, held a position in a competitive SERP. The page-level content couldn't explain that on its own. The entity-level context around it, subdomain naming, domain focus, and ecosystem interconnection, offered a better explanation, and became the basis for a live test rather than an assumption.
Entity-level context doesn't replace page-level content as a signal, and observing it once doesn't prove it caused a result. It's a competing explanation that has to be tested, not a conclusion. The way to test it is to strengthen the page while holding the surrounding context constant, and see whether visibility changes.
