Website on the Public Record
Also known as carries a website, followable record
The website field in a business's public map record is filled in, so anything reading that record can move from the pin to the business. Having a website and having one on the record are two different things.
What it means in the system.
Owning a website and carrying a website on the public record are two different things.
The first one is about you. You bought the domain, somebody built the site, it works.
The second one is about the record. Somewhere in the open entry behind your map pin there is a field for a website address. Either it is filled in or it is blank.
A person can work around a blank field. They read the name off the map and search for it themselves.
Software reading the record does not do that. It takes what the record hands it and moves on to the next business.
So the question was never whether the business has a website. It is whether the record says where to find it.
Where it shows up.
470 of the 969 real estate offices in this directory carry a website on the public record. That is 49 percent. The gap between states is wider than the work itself would suggest. 75 percent of mapped Georgia offices carry one and 41 percent of Florida offices do. Same job, same kind of business, different record.
This is one field in one open record, and anybody can fill it in. That makes it the cheapest visibility fix written about on this site. It is also the floor rather than the finish. A record that can be followed still has to lead somewhere worth arriving at.
